This 1st Session: Hooks That Make or Break Your Content

This first session was all about one thing: the hook.
Because if your first three seconds don’t land, nothing else matters.

Abby walked creators through real examples from people like Jeff Nippard, Mark Tilbury, and Mylenesmind, dissecting why some openings make you lean in, while others lose you halfway through a sentence.

The Good:

  • Jeff Nippard: Doubled himself on screen (visual hook) + hit the pain point instantly.

The Not-So-Good:

  • Slow intros that take too long to get to the point.

  • Uncertain language (“probably,” “maybe,” “kind of”) that kills confidence and too much silence.

  • Talking about the product before giving people a reason to care.

Creators got to see both sides and it clicked for them. Your hook doesn’t need to be cinematic; it needs to be clear, confident, and curiosity-driven.

Product Sales Hooks

Some of the best-performing videos Abby showed weren’t just entertaining, they moved product. Creators like @jordantheodore, @dealswithty, and @jordyn_gunderson proved that a strong hook can turn casual views into serious sales. One video pulled in 31 million views and generated nearly $1 million in revenue from a single product feature.

Another drove over $640K in sales from a short, fast-paced TikTok.

But the highlight of this section was Jordyn Gunderson, who joined the session live to share her behind-the-scenes strategy.

Her own video reached 7 million views, sold 3.4K items, and brought in $165K in revenue  and the creators LOVED hearing her break down exactly how she did it. Jordyn shared actionable tips on structuring product videos that feel natural, sell authentically, and grab attention from the first frame.

The Challenge (and the $100 Prize)

At the end of the session, Abby challenged everyone to film one video using a new hook they learned that day.
The rules were simple:

  1. Use a new hook from the session (bonus if you pair it with a visual hook).
  2. Post it and tag @JoinBrands.
  3. Be an active creator on the platform to be eligible.

One creator who completes the challenge wins $100 directly to their JoinBrands account, have a profile audit on our next session and might even be featured on our socials.
